Many Instagram users responded to the video by asking how they could create a similar rangoli.
This Diwali, Google India is making headlines. A new trend gaining popularity on social media is the QR code-themed Diwali rangoli design. The tech giant is inviting people to send their “shagun” money through a QR code embedded in the colourful design. A video shared on Google India’s official Instagram account showcases the rangoli placed right outside the door, with a message for guests: “Send Shagun To Enter.”
Following the directions, a guest dressed in traditional attire is seen arriving and scanning the QR code to make a payment of Rs 500 via Google Pay. After sending the “shagun,” he is warmly welcomed inside. The video’s caption reads, “Masti rukni nahi chahiye #KeepTraditionsAlive.”
The innovative concept has garnered significant attention on social media, leaving users both impressed and entertained. Many took to the comments section to share their reactions. One user remarked, “I’m going to send this to my sister to make this exact rangoli,” while another added, “Creative idea. This is the future, though.”
“Google’s thinking is different, there is no one like Google and there will never be anyone like it,” a comment read, while another wrote, “Good Idea!! Going to make this rangoli for sure!! THANK YOU GOOGLE.” Besides the compliments, a section of users ended up scanning Google India’s QR code from the rangoli design and asked who the receiver was.
A curious user asked, “Yeh batao, yeh rangoli ghar pe kaise banaun? (How do I make the rangoli?,” to which Google replied, “Yeh bhi Google karlo (Google this too.)”
Posted just a day ago, the video has quickly gone viral, perfectly capturing the tech giant’s festive spirit. Google India also shared additional Diwali-themed videos, each with its own creative twist. In one such idea, Google introduced a feature that lets users experience a touch of Diwali magic with virtual oil lamps, rangoli, and sweets.
The interactive element brings the spirit of the festival directly to the screens. All you have to do is type Diwali, Rangoli, or Diwali Sweets on the search engine. The pop-up results will allow you to explore the twinkling diyas, rangoli designs, and Indian sweets. “Dekho Dekho, Diwali aa gayi… even on Search,” the company claims.
