A special program was organized in Chandauli on Wednesday on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. District Magistrate Nikhil Tikaram Funde honored the national flag by hoisting the flag and garlanded the pictures of both the great personalities.

DM said, “Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution to the Indian independence movement has been incomparable. Through Satyagraha and civil disobedience movements, he awakened the spirit of independence among all sections and united the nation. Gandhiji not only helped India achieve independence Not only moved forward in the right direction, but also gave the message of harmony and unity in the society.” He further said that Mahatma Gandhi’s ideal life and his principles are relevant even today and we should take inspiration from him.
Lal Bahadur Shastri led the country with his simplicity and devotion. He was a resident of Chandauli district and it is a matter of pride for us. He also played an important role in the freedom struggle and gave a new direction to India as the Prime Minister of the country after independence. His slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ became a symbol of the country’s progress and he laid the foundation of the Green Revolution, due to which today India is emerging as a prosperous nation. DM said that we should adopt the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and contribute to nation building by following the path shown by them.
