Jalkal started water supply through tanker in the affected localities from morning itself.

Water crisis has arisen once again in Kanpur. The barrage plant has been closed after supplying water on Friday evening. Water has not been supplied to 10 lakh people since Saturday morning. It will be closed for 4 days. There will be no water supply till September 19. Jalkal will supply water through 40 water tankers. The Jal Nigam started the work of making the leakage late at night.

Supply turned off to create leakage
The Jal Nigam supplies water to around 10 lakh people through main pipeline and zonal pumping stations in the city and south from the barrage. In this main pipeline of 1600 mm diameter, there is leakage in front of auto garage located near Vijay Nagar intersection and in front of Fazalganj fire station, due to which lakhs of liters of water is being wasted every day.

Call for free water tanker
Arrangements have been made by the Jalkal Department to provide free water tankers in the water crisis areas. KP Anand, Acting General Manager of Jalkal Department said that water crisis can be reported by dialing the number 05122549018 of the control room of the department. A tanker will be sent there.

It will take 4 days to make leakage
Sunil Kumar, project manager of Jal Nigam’s barrage unit said, “After supplying water during the day on September 16 to repair these leakages, the water supply from the water treatment plant at the barrage will be stopped in the evening. The repair will take 4 days, so the water supply to the city and south will be closed from there till the evening of September 19.

There will be shortage in these localities
Harbansh Mohal, Motimohal, Shastri Nagar, Etawah Bazar, Kuraswan, Patkapur, Pandu Nagar, Geeta Nagar, Kakadev, Vijay Nagar, Dada Nagar, Govind Nagar, Barra, Nirala Nagar, Juhi Lal Colony, Juhi Bamburhia, Rakhi Mandi, Juhi Garha, Gaushala, Kidwai Nagar etc.
