Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born on 19 May 1974 in Budhana, a village near Muzaffarpur. Nawazuddin was the eldest of 8 siblings, so the responsibility was also more. The family members used to live by farming, but Nawazuddin was interested in studies. Nawazuddin went to Gurukul Kangri University in Haridwar for studies where he graduated in Chemistry.
Used to run household expenses as a chemist
After studying for a job for months, Nawazuddin got a job as a chemist in a petrochemical company in Vadodara. Chemical testing used to be dangerous work in this company, but still Nawaz worked here for about 1 year. The job was small and sometimes he lived as a watchman and sometimes started doing small jobs.
How did the idea of becoming an actor come about?
Nawazuddin went to see a play with his friend during his job days. Seeing the people on the stage, Nawazuddin himself decided to act. He decided to take admission in the National School of Drama, but he must have participated in many plays to get admission here. Nawazuddin joined the theater group and did many plays together. Eventually he got admission in NSD.
Reached Mumbai to become an actor in 1999
After completing his graduation, Nawazuddin reached Mumbai in 1999. Here he got a chance to play a small role for the first time in the same year’s film Sarfarosh. Everyone ignored this scene at first, but today when this scene is seen, people give more attention to Nawazuddin than Aamir. After this Nawazuddin also got small roles in films like Shool, Jungle and Munnabhai MBBS.
lived in poverty for three years
The period from 2002 to 2005 was very bad for Nawazuddin. I was getting work in films, but it was difficult to make a living from it. Nawazuddin used to share flats in Mumbai with four people to save expenses and earn from acting workshops. In 2004, Nawazuddin could not even pay the rent of the house. Eventually he asked the NSD senior to stay with him. The senior gave Nawazuddin a place in his Goregaon flat on the condition that he should cook his food.
Have no appearance or look, why do you want to become an actor?
During an interview to Bhaskar, Nawazuddin told that it was not easy for him to make a place in films. Nawazuddin said, I used to underestimate my personality and used to tease me. Not only in films, people could not accept me in society as well. He used to ask why are you wanting to be a hero? There is neither appearance nor appearance nor height. So in films, I was discriminated against later, but in society for many years, I suffered this perception of people in which they define white as good and black as bad.
Identity made by doing small rolls
Once again Nawazuddin started getting small roles in films like Black Friday, Dev D, New York. Nawazuddin got recognition across the country with the 2010 film Peepli Live. The acting of Nawazuddin, who was seen in the film Kahaani, left a deep impression in the minds of the people and he was liked. In the same year, Nawazuddin played the role of Faizal in Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs of Wasseypur, which earned him fame.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui married Anjana Kishore Pandey in 2009, who became Alia after marriage. They have two children, Yani and Shora. Their son was born on Nawazuddin’s 41st birthday. Nawazuddin and Anjana got divorced after 11 years of marriage. Taking divorce, Anjana had made many serious allegations against Nawazuddin and his family.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui first received the award for playing a supporting role in the film Talaash. After this, the actor and his films have received awards in 27 different categories.
