Former MLA and SP candidate Manoj Singh W did not get relief from the court in connection with the assault on the BJP booth president a day before the polling in Bansinghpur Rania of Chandauli’s Sayedaraja assembly constituency. Describing it as a serious criminal matter, deciding not to decide without debate, has fixed March 10 for hearing.
On the evening of March 6, when the election campaign was over, SP supporters and former MLA had caught a person in Rania village. He was accused of influencing voters by distributing money. The police reached after the information had brought the said person to the police station. He had lodged a complaint accusing the former MLA and SP workers of beating him up and injuring him.
On this, a case was registered against the former MLA in Sayedaraja Kotwali under serious sections. The former MLA had filed a suit in the Court of Sessions Judge for interim bail. The counsel for the former MLA submitted the argument that interim bail should be granted till the original application is disposed of. Government advocate Shashishankar Singh opposed this. Instead of granting bail immediately, the judge has fixed March 10 for hearing on the application.
