The debate on the punishment in the case related to the public has started in the court of MP/MLA Judge Ekta Verma. On Monday, the advocate from the Supreme Court presented his argument on behalf of MP Sanjay Singh. The remaining debate will be held on June 27.

Sentenced in January 2023
Special Public Prosecutor Vaibhav Pandey said that on 19 June 2001, a sit-in demonstration was held near the flyover near the city’s vegetable market under the leadership of former MLA Anoop Sanda in protest against the electricity crisis. Aam Aadmi Party’s current Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, former councilor Kamal Srivastava, Vijay Kumar, Santosh and Subhash Chaudhary were also present in the protest.
An FIR was lodged against them in Kotwali Nagar. The then Special Magistrate Yogesh Yadav held all the 6 accused guilty on 11 January 23 and imposed 1.5 months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1500 each. The appeal against the same order is being heard before the Special Judge.
Warrant of former SP MLA has been cancelled
Rudrapratap Singh Madan, Kamlesh Singh and Karuna Shankar Dwivedi are the advocates on behalf of the appellants. Supreme Court advocate Dr Farooq also argued on behalf of the MP. On the other hand, SP national spokesperson and former MLA Anoop Sanda has also got the warrant issued against him cancelled by appearing in the court.
