After hearing the PIL, the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court has sought a detailed reply on the arrangements of cow shelters in the state.

In this regard, the court has asked the Director, Animal Husbandry to remain present during the next hearing through video conferencing in the order.

The court has also asked in its order what is fed to the cattle of the Gaushala, which are mainly cows, for Rs 30 per day. The court has fixed September 25 as the next date for hearing the case.

This order was passed by a division bench of Justice Rajan Roy and Justice Om Prakash Shukla after hearing the PIL filed by Archana Singh Tomar. The court has also asked whether any survey etc. has been conducted recently.

So that it can be known how many pastures are left in the villages, whether they are still in their old form, or some areas have reduced or have disappeared completely. On the question of cowshed, the state government’s advocate told the court that at present 605 cowsheds are functional.

In which 30 rupees per day is given for the fodder of each cattle. On this the court asked what is fed for 30 rupees. The court said that we want to know what is the system of running these cow shelters and how many people have been employed in it. The court has also asked the Municipal Corporation of Lucknow what is the system of running Kanji House and Kanha Upvan.
