During the famous Ramlila of Ghazipur, the pond of Pahad Khan situated in the city becomes the Saryu river. In which Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita are taken across by Kewat in a boat. The local people have turned that historic pond into a heap of garbage. The dirty water of people’s houses is being dumped in the pond.

When Omprakash Tiwari, the general secretary of the ancient Ramlila Committee, was talked to about this pond of Ghazipur, he told that every year when Ramlila starts, before that they write to the municipality and the district administration regarding the cleaning of this pond. After this, the municipality gets this pond cleaned. But for the last two years, the municipality is also doing a formality regarding this. Due to which the Ramlila Committee has to clean this pond and complete other programs to perform the drama of Lord Rama, Laxman and Sita crossing this pond in the boat of Kewat.

Let us tell you that Ramlila of Ghazipur is being held since more than 450 years. It was started by Tulsidas’ servant Megha Bhagat. Ramlila here is a moving event. When Ramlila is held at various places, the drama of Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Mother Sita being helped to cross the pond by Kewat in his boat is enacted in this pond.
When Nagar Palika Parishad President Sarita Agarwal’s representative and former Nagar Palika President Vinod Agarwal was talked to on this matter, he said that we will find out who is negligent in this. In such a situation, action will be taken against those whose negligence is found.
