Doordarshan was among the most prominent TV channels in the 1980s-1990s. The channel became quite famous for its mythological shows, which were quite enjoyed by the masses. During that time, television was available in very few houses, so when shows like Ramayana and Mahabharat were released, people used to watch them in groups. It became a sensation in the country. BR Chopra was the director of the hit show Mahabharat. But as private channels came into the limelight in the 2000s, Doordarshan started losing its space in the TV sphere. But at that time, it was BR Chopra again who revived the channel.

Doordarshanโs serials were not getting viewers, in such a situation, once again, BR Chopra saved the sinking boat of the channel. After giving Mahabharat, he came with another show called Aap Beeti. This show was not a mythological one but a horror one. Initially, everyone was quite sceptical about BR Chopraโs efforts to enter the horror sphere. But when the show was released, it instantly glued people to the screens.
The serial Aap Beeti was launched in 2001 and ran till 2004. It became an instant hit and brought a lot of viewership to Doordarshan. It was another show by the director that the whole family used to watch sitting together. The special thing about this horror show was that, whether children or old people, everyone was scared of it due to its engaging content and exciting jump scares.
Aap Beeti was an anthology of stories based on peopleโs experiences of paranormal activities, ghosts, spirits, black magic, and supernatural situations. This show used to be telecast every Saturday at 9:30 p.m. During the telecast of this show, there used to be silence on the streets and in the houses. Recently, a social media channel shared the promo song for Aap Beeti, which took many people down memory lane.
