The final match of the tournament is to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium. IPL 2021 playoff matches will also be played on this ground.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed nine stadiums for the T20 World Cup to be held in October-November this year in India. The ICC has been proposed by the Stadium Boards of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamshala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai. The ICC has to take a final decision on this. The ICC has asked two more Asian countries to be ready under the backup plan.
The decision was taken in a virtual meeting
The BCCI took several important decisions related to the World T20 at a virtual meeting last week. It also informed the election of 9 stadiums for the tournament as well as the government’s decision to grant visas to Pakistani players. The final decision on the proposals of BCCI is to be taken by the ICC. It is believed that the ICC may take a decision in view of the situation of Corona in India at that time.
Finals to be held in Ahmedabad on 13 November
According to the BCCI, the final match of the T20 World Cup is proposed on 13 November at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. It is the largest stadium in the country and during the India-England Test series, its name was changed from Sardar Patel Stadium to Narendra Modi Stadium. Since then important cricket matches have been organized here. Apart from two Test matches against England, 5 T20 matches were also played here. Now under IPL 2021, 12 matches including play offs are to be played on this ground.
ICC team to visit India on 26 April
It is believed that a team of ICC will visit India on 26 April to take stock of the situation. The BCCI and ICC have discussed several plans for organizing the tournament. If it is difficult to organize at more centers, then the number of centers can also be reduced.
Sri Lanka and UAE Back Up Venue
The CEO of ICC has said that he expects the T20 World Cup to go according to plan. But, if more problems arise, Sri Lanka and UAE will also be kept ready as a backup plan.
Large population will be vaccinated till World Cup
The BCCI hopes to successfully host the World Cup. In India, all people above 18 years of age will be able to get vaccinated from 1 May. In this sense, most adult people are expected to be vaccinated by the time the World Cup arrives.
