A Russell’s Viper gave birth to 32 snakelets.
In Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar City, a man has caught a bulky-looking snake which is one of the venomous snakes in the world.
One of the most venomous snakes in the world is Russel’s Viper. These snakes are native to South Asia. It is also found in countries like India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan. Recently, in Madhya Pradesh’s Sagar city’s densely populated area, a female Russell’s Viper snake seemed to have eaten something. She was timely rescued and it was after a few days of being rescued, that she gave birth to 32 snakelets, which would have potentially caused havoc in the city.
Had Russell’s Viper given birth to her 32 snakelets in the middle of the densely packed area, it would have been a big disaster as the snakelets would have then spread out across the city. Sagar’s snake catcher, Akil Baba shared that the Russell’s Viper is an extremely dangerous snake. He claimed that its venom has the potential to kill a human within five minutes of its bite. He caught the snake from the Lodhipur villager near Sagar.
Akil Baba revealed that there was a report of a snake hiding in a flower bed in a house. When he went to catch it, he saw that it was a Russell’s Viper Snake. But the snake looked quite bulky, so he assumed it must have eaten something. After rescuing it, he locked it in a box and kept it at his shop. After three days, he opened the box and was shocked to see that the snake had given birth to 32 snakelets. Due to being locked in the box for three days, the snake was eating its offspring, so he separated the snakelets into a different box.
He believes that the snake was caught in time and had she given birth outside, it could have been bad news. Now, as per reports, the snakelets will be released into the forest after two to four days. Akil Baba, who has been rescuing snakes for 32 years, shared a cautionary message. He claimed that people should take extreme measures during the rainy season because snakes come out due to water filling up their burrows. Secondly, he shared that a python and a Russell’s Viper Snake look almost the same and one can easily get confused between the two. However, there is a slight difference between the brown spots between the two snakes that can be quite deceptive. People should not approach this snake thinking it to be a Python, as Russell’s Viper Snake can claim their lives.
