A young man and a woman committed suicide by jumping in front of a train late at night near the Garra bridge on the Lucknow-Delhi national highway in the Sadar Bazar police station area. Both have been identified as Vandana Kashyap (42), resident of Haji Colony, Sadar Bazar police station and Bodhan Kashyap (42), village Shahbaznagar, Sadar Bazar police station.

According to the police, Raju, a resident of Haji Colony, used to set up a clothes shop near Kali Bari with his wife Vandana Kashyap. His wife also used to sit at the shop. Raju’s friend Bodhan Kashyap also used to visit there. That’s when they started talking. As they talked, a love affair began between them.

The husband said – both of them used to talk secretly

The deceased’s husband told the police that he had come to know about their love affair about two years ago. He had stopped them from talking to each other. But they kept talking secretly. They must have met last night too, after which they both jumped in front of a train and died.

After the incident, traffic on the up line near Garra bridge on Lucknow Delhi National Highway remained disrupted for about an hour. Traffic was resumed after the bodies were removed.

Police station in-charge Ravindra Singh said that as soon as the information was received, they reached the spot and took the bodies in their custody and sent them for postmortem. With the help of the mobile found at the spot, both were identified and their families were informed. Initial investigation has revealed that there was a love affair between the two.
