The 69-year-old billionaire’s efforts have been well received by the public, and they have appreciated him for highlighting India’s achievements at this prestigious film festival.
Anand Mahindra took to the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter) and appreciated two Indian films that have performed exceptionally well at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. He shared the posters for two notable films: ‘The Shameless’, directed by Bulgarian filmmaker Constantin Bojanov and starring Anasuya Sengupta, and Payal Kapadia’s debut fiction film, ‘All We Imagine As Light’.
His post highlighted that Indian films are now enjoying global success as well. In the post, he wrote, “India in the limelight at Cannes 2024. Intense Filmmakers. Intense actors. May their tribe flourish.” His followers on X have appreciated him for supporting films that have done well globally.

During the Cannes Film Festival 2024, there were around eight films from India or about Indian themes. Naik’s Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know, and Anasuya Sengupta’s The Shameless.
Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light won the second highest award after the Palme d’Or. She also made history when she became the first Indian filmmaker to win the Grand Prix for the film. Apart from that, Anasuya Sengupta won the Best Actress award at Un Certain Regard for her role in The Shameless. She became the first Indian to win this award.
