India is making sporting history in multiple events at the ongoing Asian Games at Hangzhou. They will be looking to continue their good run as we enter a different month. On October 1, India is set to compete in events including golf, archery, shooting, bridge, canoeing, kurash, badminton, boxing, women’s hockey, athletics and diving.
With five gold in the bag in shooting events, India will be looking to add another podium finish in the men’s trap event. Prithviraj Toindaman, Kynan Chenai and Zoravar Singh Sandhu will be representing India in the competition. Individual ranking rounds for archery are also set to begin in October.
A 41-year medal drought was put to an end by Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Vipul, Chheda, Sudipti Hajela and Divyakriti after they bagged a gold medal for India in the dressage event in equestrian. In boxing, Nikhat Zareen knocked her opponent out in just 53 seconds to book a spot in the semi-finals for the women’s 50 kg event. The boxer has assured another medal for India along with a spot in the Paris Olympics.
Another medal confirmation was delivered by Mithun Manjunath who beat Nepal’s Bishnu Katuwal to secure the semi-finals for India. The ace badminton player must now be eyeing a gold medal.
