Indian compound mixed team won the gold medal in the ongoing Archery World Cup Stage-3 in Paris. Indian pair of Jyoti Surekha and Abhishek Verma defeated French pair of Robin Jatma and Lisel Jatma by a margin of 152-149 in the final. On the other hand, Surekha has won a silver medal in compound singles.
In the mixed semi-finals, the Indian pair defeated Estonia 156-151. Earlier in the quarterfinals, Abhishek and Jyoti faced a tough challenge from El Salvador’s Roberto Hernandez and Sofia Page. Both the teams are tied at 3-3. After this India won the shootout.
Earlier in the World Cup Stage-2 held in Korea, the pair of Abhishek Verma and Avneet Kaur won the bronze medal in the mixed event.
Surekha lost in the final
Surekha won silver medal in women’s compound singles. She was defeated in the final by Ella Gibson of Great Britain. After both the points were 148-148, the gap of gold happened in the shootout. Although Surekha hit 10 points in the shootout too, Ila was declared the winner as her arrow was away from the center point.
Women’s recurve has reached the final
The Indian women’s recurve team has already reached the final. The Indian trio of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat and Simranjit Kaur defeated Turkey’s Gulnaz Koskun, Ejagi Basaran and Yasmin Angoz 5-3 in the semi-finals. India will face Taiwan in the gold medal match on Sunday.
beat Britain in the quarter finals
The Indian recurve women’s team faced Britain’s challenge in the quarter-finals. The Indian team defeated Britain 6-0 even more easily. The Indian trio won the first set 59-51, the second set also 59-51 and the third set 58-50.
Archery World Cup is held in four stages
Archery World Cup is organized every year in four different cities of the world in four stages. Stage-3 matches are currently being held in Paris. Apart from this, there is also a World Cup Finals at the end of the year. In this, the archers who perform well in the first four stages get a chance.
