Two more weightlifters from India have won medals in the ongoing Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Heraklion city of Greece. Dnyaneshwari Yadav has won silver and V. Ritika won bronze medal in 49 kg weight. Before these two, Harshada Sharad Garud won gold in 45 kg weight. India has three medals in this World Championship, which is the best performance so far. Dnyaneshwari Yadav won the silver medal by lifting a total weight of 156 kg (73KG + 83KG). She finished second in both, lifting 73 kg in snatch and 83 kg in clean-and-jerk.
At the same time, V. Ritika won the bronze medal by lifting a total of 150 kg (69KG + 81KG). She finished third in both, lifting 69 kg in snatch and 81 kg in clean-and-jerk.

Harshada Sharad Garud created history by winning the gold medal at the International Weightlifting Federation’s Junior World Championships on Monday. Harshada became the first weightlifter to win a gold medal for India in this competition. Before him, India had got 2 bronze and one silver medal. In the 45 kg category, 16-year-old Harshada won the gold medal by lifting a total of 153 kg (70KG + 83KG). In the same category, India’s Anjali Patil finished fifth with a total weight of 148 kg (67KG+81KG).

Dnyaneshwari is from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh and she is taking coaching of weightlifting from Jaibhavani Vyyamshala from coach Ajay Lohar. Ajay Lohar told that since 2016 she has been training with him. Dnyaneshwari’s father also used to practice bodybuilding in this Vyyamshala. Dnyaneshwari has a younger brother. Impressed by Mirabai Chanu, her Dnyaneshwari’s father decided to make her a weightlifter. His father works as an electrician in the village itself.
