The Gujarat Titans have announced that Sandeep Warrier will replace the injured Mohammed Shami for the 2024 season of the IPL.
The Gujarat Titans are gearing up for the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) and they have announced their injury replacement for the ruled-out Mohammed Shami.
GT has roped in the Indian international, Sandeep Warrier in place of the injured Shami for the upcoming season. So far he has only played just one T20I which came in during the pandemic in 2021 against Sri Lanka.
He is set to join the Gujarat franchise for the base price of INR 50 Lakhs. Shami had undergone surgery for his right heel problem and is currently recovering. He is yet to return to playing competitive cricket after a stellar show in the recently concluded ICC ODI World Cup 2023.

The 32-year-old Warrier has played five matches in the IPL so far which came during 2019-21 seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders. He will look to make the best use of the experience of the head coach Ashish Nehra to get back to form.

The Titans already have some decent options in the fast-bowling set-up. They spent a massive 10 crores INR for the Australian quick bowler, Spencer Johnson. He will be expected to lead the line along with Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav and Mohit Sharma among others.

The Gujarat Giants will open their season with a home game against the Mumbai Indians. It will be crucial for the side led by the newly appointed skipper, Shubman Gill to start on a positive note as they aim to reclaim the title which they won back in 2022.
