Mumbai Indians Player Retention Update: Check out the full list of retained players announced by five-time IPL champion MI today.
Five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians, which is owned by Ambani’s, retained as many as five players from the 2024 squad ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auctions, which are expected to take place in the last week of November 2024. Mumbai Indians last won the IPL title in the 2020 season under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, and in the last season it finished at the bottom of the points table for the second time in three years.
After a disappointing show in IPL 2024, the Mumbai Indians have kept faith in five Indian players ahead of the new season and have splashed out as much as Rs 75 crore to acquire their services.
Despite reports of him leaving MI after being stripped of captaincy last season, Rohit Sharma has continued his association with the team, and along with him, India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav, star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, MI’s IPL 2024 captain Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma are also retained.

MI’s Costliest Player in Retention List
Mumbai Indians have retained star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Rohit Sharma for Rs 18 crore each ahead of IPL 2025 mega auctions. Rohit is MI’s most capped player in IPL history and also holds the record for scoring most runs in the cash-rich league for the Mumbai-based team.
In IPL 2024, he amassed a total of 417 runs in 14 matches to finish as the top scorer for the Mumbai Indians.
Bumrah, on the other hand, has been associated with MI since IPL 2013 and is the second-leading wicket-taker in IPL history for them. In 2024 season, he played 13 matches and got rid of 20 batters.

MI’s Remaining Purse For IPL Mega Auction
After retaining five players from the IPL 2024 squad for Rs 75 crore, five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians will enter the IPL 2025 mega auction with a remaining purse of Rs 45 crore.
Where MI Finished In IPL 2024
Mumbai Indians played under the leadership of Hardik Pandya in IPL 2024 and could only manage to win four out of 14 league stage matches, because of which, with 8 points, they finished at the bottom of the IPL 2024 points table.
