The world’s biggest league IPL is now going to return to its old form i.e. in the home-away format. Now 10 teams will be seen playing at the fixed venue. BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has also mailed the state unit in this regard. It said that we are going to organize the Men’s IPL in the home-away format with 10 teams in the month of June.
Ganguly said in a message sent to the state units- ‘IPL will be organized from next year in the format of playing matches at home ground and on the field of the opposing team. All 10 teams will play their home matches at their respective venues.
Gujarat won the last season
The title of the last season of the league was won by the newly launched team Gujarat Titans. They beat Rajasthan by 7 wickets.
League was happening at few venues
The league was taking place amid closed doors due to the Corona epidemic. That is, the matches were being held between the bio-bubbles on the numbered venues of the league. The 2020 season took place at select locations. So the 2021 season took place in 2 phases. Compared to the first phase, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai were held. IPL-2022 matches were also played in Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
WIPL organized in February-March
The board is going to conduct WIPL in February-March next year. In this regard, the board has also sent mail to the state units. Its format can be decided in the annual general meeting to be held next month.
Apart from this, the board is also going to organize the BCCI Girls Under-15 One Day Tournament.
