Islamabad United won the title by defeating Multan Sultans by 2 wickets in the final of Pakistan Super League played in Karachi on Monday. With this, Islamabad United has become the team to win the title for the third time. Imad Wasim and Martin Guptill were the heroes of Islamabad United's victory.

Thanks to Wasim's five wickets, Islamabad restricted Multan to 159 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Whereas, thanks to Martin Guptill's half century, Islamabad achieved the target with two wickets remaining on the last ball.

Islamabad United is the first team to win the title three times. Earlier, Islamabad had won the title in 2016 and 2018. After 6 years, once again Islamabad won the trophy in its favor. Apart from Islamabad, Lahore Qalandars team has won the title twice. At the same time, after winning the PSL title for the first time in 2021, Multan Sultans have had to face defeat in the final for the third consecutive time in 2022, 2023 and now in 2024.

In the PSL final played at the National Stadium in Karachi, Multan Sultans won the toss and decided to bat first. Batting first, Mulatan Sultans scored 159 runs for 9 wickets. For him, Usman Khan scored the maximum of 57 runs in 40 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six, while Iftikhar Ahmed played an unbeaten inning of 32 runs in 20 balls. He also hit 3 fours and 3 sixes. Captain Mohammad Rizwan had 26 runs in 26 balls. Imad Wasim took 5 wickets for just 23 runs, while Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 32 runs.

Islamabad won on the last ball
Chasing the target of 160 runs, Islamabad won on the last ball. For Islamabad, Martin Guptil scored 50 runs in 32 balls. He hit 4 fours and 3 sixes. Whereas Colin Munro scored 17 runs in 13 balls. While Azam Khan scored 30 runs in 22 balls with the help of 4 fours and one six, in the end Naseem Shah played a quick inning of 17 runs in 9 balls. Imad remained unbeaten after scoring 19 runs. The team needed one run on the last ball to win and Hunain Shah gave victory to Islamabad by hitting a four off Mohammad Ali.
