The rain that started in Lalitpur last Tuesday evening is not stopping. Due to the intermittent rain, rivers, drains and dams are overflowing. Due to heavy inflow of water in the dams, water is being released by opening the gates of 11 dams. In view of the heavy rain, the district administration has decided to increase the water supply.

Also, holiday has been declared on Thursday in schools up to class 12th. Due to rain, farmers’ fields are filled with water. Due to which crops are seen floating in water. In many villages, crops of urad, moong, groundnut, soybean have been almost ruined.

Assistant Engineer of Rajghat Dam GS Bhadoria told that due to rising water level of the dam, 2 lakh 6 thousand 884 cusecs of water is being drained by opening 8 gates of the dam 4 feet. At the same time, Assistant Engineer of Matatila Dam Tulsiram has informed that water is being drained continuously from Rajghat Dam. Due to which water is continuously coming into Matatila Dam. To normalize the water level, 1 lakh 70 thousand cusecs of water can be released by opening 18 gates of the dam 6 feet.

Irrigation Department Section Executive Engineer Bhupesh Suhera said that at present water is being drained out by opening the gates of 11 out of 14 dams in the district. In which water is being released from Matatila, Rajghat, Shahjad, Kanchanoda, Bhavani, Jamni, Sajnam, Jamrar, Bhaunrat dams.
