KL Rahul was impressed with India’s collective show as the activation of Reserve Day during the Pakistan clash forced India to play three days on a trot.

Flamboyant wicketkeeper KL Rahul admitted that playing three days back-to-back tested the Indian team physically but was elated after the Men in Blue registered back-to-back wins as they beat Sri Lanka by 41 runs. It was a thrilling low-scoring contest where India held their nerves in the bowling department and kept taking wickets at regular intervals to emerge victorious. Tuesday’s contest also witnessed a good fielding performance from India as they put up a collective effort and took some tricky catches to compliment their bowlers.

“It was amazing, we were trusted throughout. We were not on the field for 100 overs but how many overs we were there it tested us physically, great to see we turned up today and gave it our best. We turned up and that is a big tick mark for us as a team,” Rahul told broadcasters after the match.

After a century against Pakistan, Rahul also made a valiant effort against Sri Lanka on a tricky batting surface and scored 39 runs on Tuesday. He also did well with the gloves as he took a couple of catches and executed a stumping.

“Always happy when I contribute to the team, when you are batting in the middle order it is important to build partnerships. I have been out for 4-5 months, I will take anything that comes, it was a crucial partnership with Kishan,” Rahul added.

The flamboyant middle-order batter admitted that India were 20-30 runs short but was happy with the bowling performance.

“Third day in a row playing at the same venue, a bit of spin but we managed it really well, we were 20-30 runs short, few more partnerships could have got us to 230-240,” he added.

Rahul further revealed that he passed on a message to Kuldeep after analysing Sadeera Samarawickrama’s batting which worked well in their favour.

“When you are behind the stumps, you have a good idea as to what the batter is doing and I just passed on the message, luckily it worked for Kuldeep (referring to his tip to Kuldeep before Samarawickrama’s dismissal),” he conlcuded.
