After five-six years, music director Anand Raj Anand has recently recreated the famous song ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar…’. According to Anand, this song became quite famous at the global level. Keeping this in view, Zee Studio recreated it with a new flavour.
Anand Raj Anand had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar regarding the recreation of this song. During this interview, he also told some unheard things about Govinda. Anand Raj Anand has talked in detail about how difficult it was to make a sad song for Govinda.
Tell us an incident with Govinda?
An incident of Govinda in the film ‘Had Kar Di Aapne’ is very famous. Manoj Aggarwal said that a sad song is needed for Govinda ji. I said that Govinda has so much mischief in his eyes, how will I make a sad song. This is not possible at all.
Manoj ji said that it will have to be made, because the situation of the character is like this. The guy’s heart is broken. It would be good if such a song comes to this place. The writer of the film was Anand Bakshi Sahab. He is such a writer that writing songs for him is child’s play, but what happened before that was that the same night I watched the film ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai’.
The song in it is- ‘Mera Naam Raju Gharana Anaam, Behti Hai Ganga Jahan Mera Dham’. I liked that word Raju very much. Govinda’s character’s name in the film ‘Had Kar Di Aapne’ was Raj. I called director Manoj Aggarwal and said can a girl lovingly call Raj as Raju?
I told him a line – ‘O Raju, don’t love, your heart breaks when you are afraid’. He was shaken after hearing this. He said do not recite this line to Bakshi Saheb. If you tell, then they will give their line. Then both of them will see what to do. Bakshi Saheb wrote the song – ‘Mar Jaana Pyaar Na Karna, Varna Dil Tut Jaata’.

Well, after being afraid, the director gathered courage and told Bakshi Sahab that Anand had a line. See how she is looking. I narrated him the line ‘O Raju, don’t love me, my heart breaks in fear’. He said, ‘Will keep it.’ In this way, one line was mine and the rest of the song was written by Bakshi Sahab. Well, in this way only this one sad song was written on Govinda.
Years later, ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar…’ was recreated. What was the purpose?
“It became famous at the global level, so celebration is inevitable. Now we talked to ‘Zee’ Music about how to celebrate. From there an idea emerged that we will recreate this song. But we will write the entire lyrics new, only The hooks will keep the line the same.
In all the recreation songs, that line has to be kept for recall value and the rest of the work becomes difficult because the song has to be made with the same impact. It is easier to make things different. But recreating the same song, which sounds different and sounds the same. It was a bit of a challenge, but the way it came out, it is getting an amazing response.”

Some people do not consider recreation good. What will you say?
“See, the song should have strength. After listening to each and every lyric, one decides whether the song is light or heavy. Recreation is not a wrong thing. Rather, I say that people should not forget this song. Get it, so recreate it again after ten years.”
What was the reason for taking rest?
“When other players come, you have to sit. There is nothing wrong in it. Pritam, Vishal-Shekhar, Salim-Sulaiman, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, these people are doing good work. Everyone is in their lobby. Settlement is done. Directors like Indra Kumar, Anees Bazmee etc. do not change me.
By the way, their directors too were not being changed. We can’t enter the lobbies. I have not disappeared from the market. I kept making tunes and storing them with myself, not selling them. This was my making period. In these six-seven years, I have created more than two thousand masks. In this, from dance numbers, rap numbers, marriage songs to at least one hundred and fifty bhajans have been composed.”

What else would you like to say about the industry?
“In our industry, writers should have the most respect. Storytellers should have the most respect. What can you show on screen, when there is no thinking, then what will you create sound and scene.
You tell through the media that Anand Raj has requested the entire industry that if the lives of writers are secured, then Bollywood will be blessed.”
