The BCCI posted a video where they took inspiration from the England football team’s popular chant, ‘It’s Coming Home’.

Days after claiming the T20 World Cup title, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video of the prized trophy as the team prepares to return home. India emerged triumphant in Barbados on June 29 after taking down South Africa by seven runs in a thrilling final. Sharing a glimpse of the T20 World Cup trophy, the BCCI came up with a hyper-lapse video. “It’s coming home,” read the post shared by BCCI on X (formerly Twitter).

Several fans have now reacted to the post saying it’s time for India to celebrate the monumental victory. One of them wrote, “Trophy is coming Home. Team India Captain Rohit Sharma fulfilled his promise. Now it’s time for Celebration.”

Another urged the board to welcome the Indian team and management grandly. “Requesting BCCI to give a grand welcome to the team and management,” read the response.

“Historical day for India. Our heroes coming with a trophy after 13 years. Wait is over,” a social media user commented.

Another person said, “The dream has come true and the 11-year wait for an ICC trophy and 13-year wait for the World Cup is finally over. Mighty proud of this Indian team!”

“Every Indian heart right now, ‘Welcome home!’ Champions,” commented one more user.

The famous tagline ‘It’s coming home,’ used by BCCI, is a common chant amongst England football fans. These words have been taken from a famous song called Three-Lions. In recent years, the ‘It’s Coming Home’ chant has been used by several teams and fans across a variety of sports and the Indian cricket team is now the latest addition to have used this iconic saying.

The T20 World Cup 2024 brought an end to India’s 11-year wait for an ICC trophy. The Indian cricket team last won an ICC title in 2013 after emerging victorious in the Champions Trophy. Since then, they went on to lose several finals, including a T20 World Cup in 2014, a Champions Trophy in 2017 an ODI World Cup in 2023 and back-to-back Test Championships between 2021-23.

India will next face Zimbabwe in a five-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played on Saturday, July 6 at the Harare Sports Club.
