In the thrilling final of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets with a four off the last ball. Ravindra Jadeja scored 10 runs off the last 2 balls at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As soon as he hit the winning shot, he ran towards Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni celebrating.

Celebrating the victory, Jadeja ran towards the CSK pavilion as soon as he hit a four off the last ball of the final. He went to Dhoni, keeping fellow players away. On seeing Jadeja, Dhoni jumped with joy and lifted him in his lap. Dhoni became emotional and hugged Jadeja for a long time.

Before the last ball of the match, Chennai captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni closed his eyes while sitting in the pavilion. He was seen praying in his mind. Along with Dhoni, many fans of CSK were seen praying sitting in the stadium.

5. Ambati Rayudu became emotional after winning the final
CSK middle order batsman Ambati Rayudu had already said before the match that IPL final would be the last match of his cricket career. He had already retired from international and domestic cricket. He played a crucial 19 off 8 balls in his last match to take CSK close to victory.

After the match, Dhoni also said that Rayudu is a great player, his ability to score runs against both spin and pace bowlers makes him the best. 6. Dhoni said, ‘This is not my last season’
After winning the trophy, commentator Harsha Bhogle asked Dhoni whether this was his last season. On this, Dhoni said, ‘After winning the IPL final, it would be easiest for me to say that this was my last match. It’s like a dream come true. But with the kind of love that fans have given me this season, I think with a little more effort I will have to take a difficult decision to wait for 9-10 months. Only after seeing the fitness, I will decide whether I want to play or not.

7. CSK lifted the IPL trophy for the 5th time
At the end of the presentation ceremony, BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jai Shah handed over the IPL trophy to Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The team won the title for the 5th time. 1. Chahar missed the catches of both Gill and Saha
Deepak Chahar dropped catches of both Wriddhiman Saha and Shubman Gill in the powerplay. The fourth ball of the second over, Tushar Deshpande threw a good length on the leg stump. Gill flicks it, the ball goes to Chahar at square leg. But Chahar missed the ball and could not complete the catch. In this way Gill got life on the score of 3 runs.

Dhoni made a brilliant stumping on the last ball of the seventh over in the first innings. Shubman Gill of Gujarat was on strike in front of Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja bowls on a good length, Gill misses the ball to drive. But behind the wicket, MS Dhoni made no mistake and stumped in just 0.14 seconds.

impact: Gill was dismissed after scoring 39 runs and Gujarat’s opening partnership was broken. Gill had scored 3 centuries in 4 matches before the final. If he had survived, the score could have crossed 230.

In the second innings, CSK openers got the team off to a brisk start. Both added 74 runs when Noor Ahmed of Gujarat sent Rituraj Gaikwad and Devon Conway to the pavilion in the second over of his spell. Chennai came under pressure with the wicket of the openers. Noor gave only 17 runs in the spell of 3 overs.

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni got out on zero in his 250th IPL match. He was caught out by Mohit Sharma in the 13th over of the second innings. Mohit also took the wicket of Ambati Rayudu on his last ball. Rayudu got out after playing an inning of 19 runs in 8 balls. This was Rayudu’s last IPL match.

5. Rain stopped play for 2 hours
After the first innings got over at 9:20 am, the second innings started half an hour late. Artist Vivian Divine performed for 10 minutes in between. Due to this the second innings started at 9:55 am with a delay of 20 minutes. But in the second innings, it rained only after 3 balls were bowled.

It rained only for 15 minutes, but due to wet ground, the second innings was resumed at 12:10 pm. The innings was reduced to 5 overs and CSK got a target of 171 runs in 15 overs.

impact: The game was stopped for 2 hours after the rain. Due to which the overs were reduced and Chennai got the target of 171 runs. Had the game been played for the full 20 overs, the result could have made a difference.
