Jalandhar West Assembly Bypoll 2024: List of Contesting Candidates – News18

A total of 15 candidates are contesting in the 2024 bypolls for the 34. Jalandhar West Assembly constituency in the state of Punjab. The byelection to this seat and elections to choose the new Jalandhar West MLA was necessitated because of resignation of Sheetal Angural.

In the last elections for this constituency in 2022, there were a total of 12 candidates: Sheetal Angural (AAP), Sushil Kumar Rinku (INC), Mohinder Bhagat (BJP), Anil Meenia (BSP), Jasbir Singh Mann (SADM), Subhash Goria (IND), Neelam (IND), Karam Chand (IND), Balwinder Kumar (ASPKR), Vipan Kumar (IND), Amrish Bhagat (IND), Baljinder Sodhi Advocate (NATJUP). This seat was won by AAP in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

The gazette notification for the Jalandhar West bypoll was issued on June 14, 2024 (Friday), the last date of scrutiny of nominations was June 24, 2024 (Monday) and the last date of withdrawal of nominations was June 26, 2024 (Wednesday). Voting for this seat is scheduled on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 and the counting of votes will happen on Saturday, July 13, 2024.
