1. Recruitment for 760 posts in Delhi Jal Board

Urban Development Department, Delhi has issued a notification for recruitment to the post of Junior Assistant in Delhi Jal Board. 1. Shefali Sharan becomes DG of PIB

Shefali B on 1st April. Sharan assumed the charge of Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB). Shefali has been appointed in place of Manish Desai. Shefali is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Information Service (IIS). She has also worked as a spokesperson for the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Finance Ministry.

2. 'One vehicle, one Fastag' rule implemented

The 'one vehicle, one Fastag' rule of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has come into effect from April 1. This has been implemented to prevent the use of the same Fastag for multiple vehicles or the use of multiple Fastags from the same vehicle. According to the new rule, now more than one Fastag cannot be installed on one vehicle. Fastag is an electronic service of toll collection in India, which is operated by NHAI.

3. India's defense budget Rs 21,083 crore

On April 1, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh posted on social media that India's defense budget has crossed Rs 21 thousand crore for the first time. There has been an increase of 32.5% this year compared to the financial year 2022-23. India's defense exports to reach Rs 21,083 crore in 2023-24. More than 100 companies of the country are exporting defense products to other countries.

4. Two products from Tripura get GI tag

On March 31, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took to social media to inform about two products from Tripura getting Geographical Indication (GI) tag. These products are Matabari Pera Prasad and Rignai Pachara Cloth. Matabari Pera Prasad is a sweet prasad served at the famous Tripureshwari temple in Tripura. Rignai Pachara is a traditional hand-woven fabric.

1. Student sexually harassed in JNU campus, sits on strike

A student of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has started an indefinite strike at the main gate of the campus. The student alleges that the university administration has not taken any action against the sexual harassment that happened to her.

The student says that on March 31, she was walking with her friend at 2 o'clock in the night on JNU Ring Road in the university campus. During this time, four people chased both of them. Two of these people were on a bike and two were chasing them in a car. Both the people sitting in the car were university students. During this time she was sexually harassed.

After the student's complaint, the university administration had ordered an investigation into the matter. The student alleges that the four people who committed the sexual harassment are still roaming in the university.

2. Now all BTech and BS level UG programs in IIT Kharagpur will be of 5 years duration.
