1. Sub-category reservation in Scheduled Castes approved
On August 1, the Supreme Court overturned its 20-year-old decision on reservation quota. State governments will now be able to give quota within the reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC). The court laid down a condition for the state government not to give 100% quota to any one caste within the Scheduled Castes.

The Constitution Bench of 7 judges said that dividing the Scheduled Castes on the basis of the castes included in it is not against Article 341 of the Constitution. Those castes of the Scheduled Castes which have been left out can be given reservation by creating a quota for them.

2. Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale won bronze medal
India got its third medal in the Paris Olympics on 1 August. Shooter Swapnil Kusale won the bronze medal in the men’s category of 50 meter rifle three position. India has got all three medals in shooting events in this Olympics.

3. Vikas Lakhera took over as Assam Rifles DG
Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera took over as Director General (DG) of Assam Rifles on August 1. After General TPS Rawat, Vikas is the second officer from Uttarakhand to be appointed to this post.

Vikas was earlier holding the responsibility of Inspector General (North) in Assam Rifles.

2. Recruitment for 9583 posts in SSC
Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has extended the last date for application process for MTS and Havildar Recruitment 2024 to 3 August. At the same time, the last date for depositing the fee has been extended to 4 August (till 11 pm). Candidates have been given time till 16 and 17 August for correction in the application.

Educational Qualification :

Candidates must have passed 10th from a recognized board.

Age Range :

  • Minimum : 18 Years
  • Maximum : 25/ 27 Years
  • There will be relaxation in upper age limit for the candidates belonging to reserved category.

1. UPSC released the result of CDS written exam
UPSC has released the result of the written exam of Combined Defense Service i.e. CDS. Candidates can check their result by visiting the official website upsc.gov.in. 8,373 candidates have been selected for the interview. The Service Selection Board of the Ministry of Defense will conduct these interviews.

2. Registration for CAT 2024 begins
Registration for the CAT exam for admission to management institutes in the country has begun. Candidates can apply for the exam by visiting the official website iimcat.ac.in till September 13. This exam will be held on November 24.

3. NEET PG city slip released
The National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences has released the city slip for the NEET PG exam. Registered candidates can download the city slip from their official mail ID. The admit card for the exam will be issued on August 8. The NEET PG exam is to be held on August 11.
