Rahul has been left out of India’s playing XI for the second Test against New Zealand, which is taking place at MCA Stadium in Pune.
Star Indian batter KL Rahul was dropped from Indiaโs playing XI for the second Test against New Zealand, which is taking place at the MCA Stadium in Pune. The 32-year-old right-handed batter was not able to do much in the series opener played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru last week. He scored a six-ball duck in the first inning and was out after making 12 runs from 16 balls in the second.
In his place, Shubman Gill is playing in Pune for the hosts. Gill missed the series opener due to fitness-related issues.
KLโs place in the side was under threat after Sarfaraz Khan scored 150 runs in the second inning of the Bengaluru Test last week. Like Rahul, Sarfaraz also scored a duck in the first inning, but he improved his performance in the second and top-scored for the Rohit Sharma-led side.
While it was a harsh call to drop Rahul from the side after just one flop show, fans on social media platforms welcomed the decision.
