Nisar M S, who runs a bicycle workshop in Edavilangu, a village in Thrissur District is overjoyed in having his dream come true. As any youth of today, Nisar aspired to possess a luxurious bike one day. To purchase one such machine was beyond his capacity with his menial earnings. So, he decided to build an electric bike with handmade components. He purchased only a pair of wheels from a scrap shop. It took him ten months of strenuous work, working late into the nights to fulfill his dream. The outcome of his labour is a 48V DC motor, pollution-free bike weighing 170 kg that cost Nisar less than Rs 1 lakh.
