Pollard announced his retirement via an Instagram post.
West Indies’ 34-year-old star all-rounder Kieron Pollard has announced his retirement from international cricket. He will continue to play T20 leagues around the world including IPL. Pollard informed about his retirement by posting a video on Instagram. Pollard is currently playing for Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
Proud to play for West Indies
Pollard said- I have taken the decision of retirement after a lot of thought. Like many Caribbean youths, I also dreamed of playing for the West Indies from the age of 10. I am proud that I could play for West Indies in T20 and ODI for 15 years.
Pollard was the captain of West Indies in the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Played 101 T20 Internationals and 123 ODIs
Pollard represented the West Indies in 101 T20 Internationals and 123 ODIs in his career. In ODIs, he scored 2706 runs at an average of 26.01. This includes 3 centuries and 13 fifties. In T20 Internationals, he scored 1569 runs at an average of 25.30. It includes 6 centuries. Pollard has also taken 55 wickets in ODIs and 42 wickets in T20 Internationals.
Got captaincy in 2019
Pollard was made the captain of the West Indies ODI and T20 team in 2019. She was also the captain of the Caribbean team in the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, the team could not reach the semi-finals.
