Former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard, known as the swashbuckling all-rounder of T20, will be seen playing county cricket after more than a decade. He will join English county side Surrey for the T20 Blast after the IPL later this month. Sunil Narine of West Indies is also a part of this team.

Kieron Pollard, who recently retired from international cricket, had received offers from several English county teams to play in the T20 Blast, according to reports. However, Surrey’s team won it. Surrey were looking for a foreign all-rounder after Australia’s Sean Abbott was dropped from the team.

Can debut on 31st May

In a press release issued on Friday, Surrey announced Kieron Pollard’s joining the team. Pollard can make his debut on 31 May in the match between Surrey and Gloucestershire at the Kia Oval Stadium. This will be Pollard’s first in county cricket in more than a decade. Pollard had previously played county cricket for Somerset in 2011. There was news of his joining Northamptonshire in 2020 but that deal was canceled due to Kovid.

In a press release issued by Surrey, Pollard said: “It has been a long time since I have played county cricket and I am very excited to be associated with Surrey for the T20 Blast.” It will be very special to play in the Kia Oval stadium packed with spectators.

T20 Blast in England will start from 25th May. In this, many famous players of the world including England will be seen playing.

Sunil Narine will also be in the team along with Pollard

Apart from Pollard, Sunil Narine is also a part of Surrey’s team. Sunil Narine and Pollard have been playing with each other for a long time. Apart from the West Indies team, Trinidad and Tobago in the Champions League, Dhaka Dynamites in the Bangladesh Premier League and Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL have played together. In such a situation, the jugalbandi of these two can be very useful for Surrey.

Surrey’s team has not been able to win the trophy for 19 years

Surrey have never won the T20 Blast title again since winning the first edition of the tournament in 2003. Last year, the team could not even qualify for the knock-out rounds of the tournament. This time the arrival of Naren and Pollard will strengthen the team but its path will not be so easy. This is because Surrey’s key players – Sam Curran, Tom Curran, Ollie Pop, Ben Fox, Jason Roy and Reece Topley – will not be able to join the team due to injury or being busy with the national team.

Pollard’s bat remained calm in IPL

World’s dangerous T20 all-rounder Kieron Pollard could not do much wonders in IPL-15. In 11 innings of the tournament, his bat scored just 144 runs at a strike rate of 107. During this time, he had also announced to leave the captaincy of the West Indies team and retire from international cricket.
