The farmers said that everyone knows the role played by the Annadata in the midst of the corona epidemic, but the government is sitting with its eyes closed. He says that even today the farmer is gathering courage to fill everyone’s stomach.
Dispute of 640 acres of land of farmers of 6 villages
In Shatabdi Nagar, the MDA had taken land from the farmers to develop the colony. The farmers of some villages even allowed the administration to run arbitrarily and took compensation by giving land at the same rate. But the farmers of 6 villages did not agree to this and sat on dharna. In this, there is a dispute over 640 acres of land of farmers of Jayantpur, Ghopla, Rithani and Acharonda and two villages. The demand of the farmers is for compensation by giving land according to the new acquisition policy. Which was not in administration. Farmers are also not giving land.
Will not let the eyes of the government fall on our land
Baba Vijaypal, who was sitting on the dharna, said that everyone knows the role played by this Annadata in the midst of the Corona epidemic. On which the government is sitting with its eyes closed. But the farmer is still gathering courage to fill everyone’s stomach. I salute such Annadata, this dharna movement has now become a part of the life of farmers. The path on which our elders had walked, now this responsibility has come on the shoulders of all of us youth. Which we will do till we die. We will not allow anyone to take even a single piece of our land, the land which is our mother, will never let the dirty eyes of the government fall on that land.

Farming continues on disputed land
The farmers sitting on the dharna have cultivated their entire 640 acres of land. Sometimes sugarcane and sometimes wheat remains in the field. The farmers who had given the land to MDA have developed MDA colony on that land, the population has settled. Now this agricultural land is coming in the middle of the residential colony on which farmers are cultivating. Unless the farmers agree, the MDA will not get this land and the entire colony will not develop.
Protest going on in shift in Corona period
BKU District General Secretary Deepak Ghopla said that the district administration made many efforts to lift the farmers, talked to the farmers, but the farmers stood firm on their demands. Farmers say that the administration will take cheap land and sell it at expensive prices, due to which the farmer is at a loss. There are always 400 to 500 farmers protesting here. The strike continues even during the Corona period. The number of farmers has decreased. Now farmers come on dharna in shifts. The farmers of 2 villages sit from morning till night and the farmers of 2 villages sit at the dharna site from night till morning. Still around 40 to 50 farmers are sitting at the site of the dharna all the time.
Many farmers died during the strike
Around 20 farmers have died in these 7 years during the dharna. Baba Ilam Singh, who started the dharna, also passed away during the dharna at the same dharna site. After him Baba Vijaypal Singh has taken command of the dharna. The dharna is going on for 7 years even today in the same condition. The farmers took a vow that the government does not give up its policies against the farmers, such dharnas will continue like this.
