Shreyas Iyer is on cloud nine. After all, his side Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024. Iyer and Co. crushed Sunrisers Hyderabad in a one-sided final at Chepauk on Sunday. It was a monumental feat for KKR, who previously had the privilege to lift the coveted IPL trophy ten years back in 2014. Back then, Gautam Gambhir was the captain of the Kolkata-based unit. The World Cup-winning cricketer led KKR to the IPL triumph in the 2012 season as well. Iyer is now only the second KKR captain after Gambhir to win the franchise competition. Iyer took centre stage at the post-match presentation ceremony and celebrated the triumph emphatically with his teammates. It seems Iyer has yet to get over the vibe as he can’t get his hands off the prized accolade.

Shreyas Iyer has shared a photo of himself on X (formerly Twitter) where he could be seen posing with the prestigious trophy. In the pic, Iyer is seen enjoying his time in the pool but not without the IPL trophy. “Taking you everywhere I go,” he wrote.

The photograph might have reminded fans of a commercial featuring Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah which went viral during the league stage of the 2024 IPL. In the promotional video, Iyer was also seen chilling in a swimming pool when he spotted a duck in the water.

At that moment, Bumrah was enjoying a glass of juice while sitting at the poolside. The Mumbai Indians pacer asked Iyer to befriend the duck, which also meant getting dismissed at zero in a game of cricket.

Despite being the IPL 2024 champion, Shreyas Iyer will not represent India in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup beginning on June 2. The BCCI terminated his contract a few months ago. The board reportedly felt Iyer was not playing enough domestic cricket to keep himself fit. Before featuring in the IPL, the middle-order batter won the Ranji Trophy with the Mumbai cricket team.\
