The Knight Riders group, owned by film actors Shah Rukh, Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta, is now going to participate in the UAE T20 league as well. It has acquired the rights to own and operate the Abu Dhabi franchise. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders will be the fourth team in the league.
The franchise has confirmed this. Franchise owner Shahrukh Khan said that over the years we have been expanding the Knight Riders Group globally and are looking at the possibilities of cricket in the UAE. We are excited to take part in the UAE T20 League. League President Khalid Al Jarooni said that this effort of ours will enhance the reputation and professionalism of the league in the entire cricketing world. Meanwhile, General Secretary Mubashir Usmani said that our league will attract big names from the cricketing world and will provide a platform to local and future players. During this, KKR’s CDEO Venky Mysore was also present.
Adani Group also took rights
Adani Group had acquired the rights of the franchise four days ago. One team each from Reliance Industries Limited, Lancer Capital, GMR Group and Capri Global will participate in the league. Six teams will participate in the league. Held every year, this tournament will have 34 matches in a season.
