Indian captain Virat Kohli has also gone through depression. Kohli revealed this on Friday. He said that the 2014 England tour had been frightening for him. After failing to score runs, he considered himself to be the most helpless person in the world. He said this during a Not Just Podcast program with former England cricketer Mark Nicholas.

Kohli scored 134 runs in 10 innings of 5 Tests on an England tour in 2014 at an average of 13.50. He played innings of 1, 8, 25, 0, 39, 28, 0,7, 6 and 20.

‘I thought I would not be able to score, I had a bad feeling’
Kohli said that touring England was very difficult for me personally. He said I was in depression. It seemed to me that I would not be able to score runs. It was a very bad feeling. Such a phase comes in the life of all batsmen. At that time nothing happens to you.

‘There were people around, yet felt alone’
Kohli told that I could not know how to get out of this phase. I was finding myself the loneliest person in the world. I realized at that time that despite being around you in this disease, I feel alone.

‘Had lost confidence, hesitated to talk’
Kohli said, ‘It is not that I did not have people to tell, rather I was feeling whether someone would understand me or not. Someone whom I say listen, I am not feeling good, listen, I am not feeling sleepy. I had lost confidence. ‘

Kohli said that many more players must have gone through the same period. Some may have spent months in depression. Once you go into depression, you don’t have a chance to get out. Only a professional can help you get out of it.

Seeing Indian team of 90s awakened confidence
Kohli said that the team India helped him a lot in getting out of depression in 1990. He said, ‘Whenever I miss the team of 90s, I understand what to do. I saw Team India winning many matches. Then I believed that believing in myself also leads to magical things. If a person is determined, he can change it. It was here that showed me the way to move forward. The passion to play for the country grew from here.

Kohli also visited Australia after the tour of England. There Kohli returned to form and scored 692 runs in 4 Tests. This includes 4 centuries.

India-England third test will be held in Motera from 24 February
Kohli is currently in Ahmedabad for the third Test against England starting on February 24. The 4-Test series between India and England is still 1-1. The fourth Test will also be played at Motera Stadium from 3 March. After this there will also be a 5 match T20 series here.

Team India will have to win one of the next 2 Tests to play in the final of the World Test Championship and at least draw the other. The WTC final will be played at Lord’s in June this year. The New Zealand team has already reached the final.
