The Indian Army has started gearing up for a long haul and preparing for the harsh winter months with all-weather accommodation. This is with the ongoing border tensions between India and China. The troops have been given new accommodation keeping in view the long freezing winter in the Ladakh region. These tents can sustain temperatures anywhere between minus 40 to minus 50 degrees. Indian and Chinese troops have been locked in a months-long standoff along a 70 km-long front to the south of the Pangong Tso lake. The two sides have been holding several talks on military and diplomatic levels but there has been no major breakthrough as of now. Several necessary supplies, including heating appliances, climate-appropriate clothing, rations, fuel have been provided to the troops to protect from the biting cold.
