Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha got an opening of just 11.50 crores on the first day at the box office on Thursday. This is the lowest gross of any film of Aamir in 13 years. Thugs of Hindostan, which is called Aamir’s superflop, also did a business of 52 crores on the first day.
Akshay Kumar’s film Raksha Bandhan, which was released along with Aamir, has done a business of 8 crores. In this context, two Bollywood stalwarts have not been able to touch their own records. At the same time, South’s KGF-2 still remains the highest opening film of this year.
Expert said- Akshay’s film business will get stronger
According to Box Office India report, Aamir’s Laal Singh Chaddha has done decent business in Delhi NCR and Punjab belt. More than half Punjabi has been used in Laal Singh Chaddha’s dialogues, so the film’s business has been doing well in Punjab as well.
In the circuits where Aamir’s films have done good business, Akshay’s films always used to do more business. But the trade analyst expects the business to pick up strength in this long weekend.
Exhibitors reduced shows
According to media reports, Raksha Bandhan and Lal Singh Chaddha got 10 thousand shows on the day of release. Now according to the recent report, the exhibitors have reduced the shows of both these films for Friday. This includes 1300 shows of Lal Singh Chaddha and 1000 shows of Raksha Bandhan. Exhibitors say that there were 10 to 12 people in the shows of both the films on Thursday, in view of this, we have reduced the shows.
Yash’s record still stands
Yash starrer KGF-2 did a business of 53.95 crores in the Hindi belt only in the opening day. This remains the biggest opening-day collection for any Indian film till date. Made in a budget of about 100 crores, the opening day collection of this film was 134.5 crores in Pan India. Along with this, the film had earned more than 100% of its budget on the very first day itself.
