Leopard was attacked by a student returning home after guarding a farm in Katarnia Purva village of Motipur range in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. The student clashed with the leopard to save his life. Hearing the scream, the leopard ran towards the forest when the nearby people ran. The forest department has given immediate assistance to the victim. The leopard has been roaming in the village for the last three days.
According to the information, the village of Tedwa Katarnia under the Motipur range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Division is adjacent to the forest. Balak Ram (17) son Shivdayal studies at Babu Basudev PG College located in Roopedha. The student went to the sugarcane field. After taking care of sugarcane, he was going back home. Meanwhile, the leopard came out of the forest and attacked it. The student clashed in a noise to save his life.
Leopard escaped into the forest when villagers ran
Hearing the screaming, the other villagers ran away and the leopard ran towards the forest. The injured student was admitted to the Community Health Center Motipur. Here the forest officer Mahendra Maurya arrived with the team to know the condition of the injured student. Ranger has confirmed the leopard attack. The student is sent home after treatment. Ranger gave a financial aid of one thousand rupees to the student.
Two leopards have been walking for three days
Other villagers, including outgoing village head Rupali Vishwakarma and Mayank, said that two leopards have been traveling for three days. This causes panic among the villagers. No rescue arrangements are being made by the forest department.
