Ashwin dismissed two Bangladeshi batters in the first innings and three in the second of the Kanpur Test, which India won by seven wickets on Tuesday.
India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the second Test of the two-match series played at Green Park in Kanpur on Tuesday (October 1). Jasprit Bumrah, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets each to help the Rohit Sharma-led side dismiss Najmul Hossain Sahnto & Co. for 146 runs in the second innings, and then riding on Yashasvi Jaiswalโs second fifty of the match, India chased down the target of 95 runs for the loss of three wickets in 17.2 overs.
World No. 1 Test bowler Ashwin, who won the Player of the Match award in the series opener played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from September 19-22, picked up five wickets (2 & 3) in the second Test, of which two full days were washed out due to rain and wet outfield and only 35 overs were possible on Day 1.

Most wickets in India-Bangladesh Tests: Ashwin broke Zaheer Khanโs record to become the leading wicket-taker in Test matches played between India and Bangladesh. Zaheer dismissed 31 batters in seven matches, whereas Ashwin now has 34 wickets to his name in eight India-Bangladesh Tests.
Most wickets in WTC 2023-25: With 53 wickets to his name in 10 matches, Ashwin is the leading wicket-taker in the ongoing 2023-25 edition of the World Test Championship. Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is in 2nd place with 51 wickets in 11 matches.
1st bowler to take 50 wickets in all three WTC editions: By taking two wickets in the first innings of the second Test, Ashwin created history as he became the first bowler to take at least 50 wickets in all three editions of the World Test Championship played so far.
Most wickets for Indian bowler in Asia: The first wicket for Ashwin in the Kanpur Test helped him break Anil Kumbleโs record of most wickets for India on Test matches played in Asia. Kumble dismissed 419 batters in Test matches played in Asia, whereas Ashwin has 424 wickets to his name.
Ashwin will next be seen in action for India in the three-match Test series against New Zealand, which is set to start on October 16 in Bengaluru.
