Lokesh Kanagaraj Trolled For Suggesting Leo Flashback Scenes Could Be Fake – News18

Leo hit the theatres on October 19.

Lokesh Kanagaraj spilled the beans on Leo’s much-talked-about flashback scene in a recent interview.

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is being heavily criticised on social media for a flashback scene in his latest film Leo, as per reports. He is getting trolled online for hinting that the flashback scenes in Leo could be fake. In the film, the character Hridayaraj D’Souza (Mansoor Ali Khan) narrates the backstory of Leo to Joshi (Gautham Menon). Fan theories suggest that the story could be entirely fake, and was told to hide the real identity of Leo.

Netizens have shown their displeasure on social media, and hashtags like #Leoscam and #LokeshKanagaraj are circulating on Twitter. According to the critics and moviegoers, the first half of the film was very good, but they said that the second part felt like the movie was being dragged. The flashback scenes and the second half of the film came under fire by the critics and the audience alike.

In an interview, Leo’s cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa said that the flashback scenes could be fake, which were narrated by Mansoor Ali Khan.

In another Interview, Lokesh Kanagaraj himself was asked to share his thoughts on the matter. He revealed, “Parthiban (Vijay’s character) never told the story of Leo from his perspective. It was told from Hridayaraj’s point of view. I had kept a dialogue where Hridayaraj would say that he was going to narrate the story from his perspective.” He stated further that the dialogue was chopped off from the final draft, as editor Philomin Raj thought that it would give away the information that the whole story is fake.

Lokesh said that he shortened the flashback scene, which could have been 40 to 45 minutes long, due to a time crunch. He added, “The flashback portion was long. I deliberately cut them down as I felt it was difficult to bring back the audience to the present and it could look like a different film.” Lokesh Kanagaraj’s confirmation acted as fuel for the online trolling.

Leo was released on October 19 and is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. It stars Thalapathy Vijay, Sanjay Dutt, Trisha, Arjun, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan and Priya Anand. It is produced by SS Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy, while Anirudh Ravichander has given the music.
