The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has directed the Sports Authority of India (SAI) to ensure that the Indian handball team plays in the 20th Asian Men’s Handball Championship. This order was given by the bench of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice Narendra Kumar Johri on the petition filed by Mohit Yadav. The bench’s order paved the way for the Indian men’s handball team to play in the 20th Asian Men’s Handball Championship to be held in Saudi Arabia from January 18 to 31.
During the hearing in this matter, the bench said on Thursday that we direct the Sports Authority of India to ensure the participation of the Indian handball team, for which the approval of the budget has also been decided.
Simultaneously, the bench also clarified that the Sports Authority of India can decide necessary action notwithstanding the fact that some dispute regarding constitution of the Management Body in Handball Federation of India is sub-judice in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
