‘Maharashtra government should give justice to father’: Nitin Desai’s daughter said- Father had paid the loan by selling the office; they did not intend to defraud

Noted art director Nitin Desai committed suicide on the morning of 2 July. He was cremated on 4 July at ND Studios. Now his daughter Mansi has appealed to the Maharashtra government to investigate the case.
Mansi said that her father did not intend to cheat anyone. He was about to repay all his loans. Mansi has requested the media not to run such news about her father without information.
The father had repaid the loan by selling the office.
Talking to news agency ANI, Mansi said- My father had taken a loan of Rs 181 crore. However, he had repaid Rs 86.31 crore out of that. He was about to repay the loan in full. The lenders had asked for 6 months interest in advance. Father had paid that too by selling his office in Powai. His intention was not to fraud anyone.

Mansi said- the studio was closed, father was unable to pay regularly
Mansi further said – Due to the pandemic, the industry had to face a lot of economic loss. No work was available, so the studio was closed. He was unable to pay regularly. He tried several times to talk to the loan company. The company assured them but later started taking legal action.

Nitin Desai was 58 years old.
Police registered FIR against five people
The police have registered an FIR in this case against the office bearer of the finance company and five others. In 2016, Nitin Desai’s ND Art Company took a loan from Edelweiss Asset Reconstruction Company. Police is also interrogating the officials of Edelweiss Company in this matter.
The loan amount was Rs 150 crore, then in February 2018 again took an additional loan of Rs 35 crore. In 2020, due to the crisis caused by the Corona epidemic, the loan installments of the company started defaulting. After this, the total outstanding debt on Nitin Desai had increased to Rs 252 crore.
