“Over five crore citizens have benefitted from ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’. It is a matter of pride that this initiative has been recognised at the national level,” says CM Eknath Shinde
Maharashtra chief minister (CM) Eknath Shinde’s initiative ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ or ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ has won the prestigious SKOCH Award for excellence in governance. The recognition highlights Maharashtra’s commitment to delivering efficient public services and sets a new standard for citizen-focused governance models in India.
The programme was chosen from among 280 projects across various categories nationwide, underscoring the impact and effectiveness of Maharashtra’s model. The jury highlighted how the initiative has successfully brought essential government services directly to citizens, earning widespread praise for its efficiency and accessibility.
“The Mahayuti government is a government for common people. Government schemes should reach the last section of society, and people shouldn’t need to visit government offices. Rather, the government should come to their doorstep. With this goal, we launched the ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ initiative, which has received appreciation nationwide. Over five crore citizens have benefitted from this scheme. It is a matter of pride that this initiative has been recognised at the national level. This award will further empower the government to implement more people-centric schemes,” said Shinde.
STREAMLINING ESSENTIAL SERVICES
Launched under the CM’s public welfare department, ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’ was designed to ensure that the benefits of various government schemes reach the most underserved communities, particularly those in remote areas. Through this programme, essential services have been streamlined, removing bureaucratic barriers and providing direct access to government assistance. Over the past year, the initiative has reached over five crore citizens across Maharashtra, delivering benefits directly to their doorsteps and significantly enhancing their quality of life.
A key aspect of this initiative is its focus on ease of access and convenience for citizens. By implementing ‘Shasan Aplya Dari’, the Maharashtra government has simplified the delivery of services related to healthcare, education, social welfare and more, ensuring that every citizen receives the support they need without delays or complications. This approach not only improves service delivery, but also strengthens trust between citizens and the government.
The SKOCH Award recognises excellence and innovation in governance, highlighting projects that create measurable impacts in public service. The programme stood out for its efficient execution and significant reach, establishing it as a national model for other states looking to improve public service delivery.
