Women worshipped Vat Savitri.
On the occasion of Savitri festival in Jalaun, married women kept a fast on Thursday for the long life of their husbands. Women collectively worshipped the Banyan tree. In the urban and rural areas of the district, women reached the banyan tree in the morning to worship it and performed the worship of Vat Savitri.

On the occasion of Vat Savitri Puja, women prepared things for the puja at home from the morning itself and after getting ready, they went out of their houses to worship the banyan tree. After doing parikrama, they prayed for the long life of their husbands. Wherever there were banyan trees in different places of the district, women gathered there according to their convenience and worshipped Vat Savitri.

Women say that Savitri had prayed for the longevity of her husband Satyavan and saved his life from Yamraj and brought him back to life. That is why women are also praying to Vat Savitri for the longevity of their husbands.
