Russia’s 25-year-old tennis player Denil Medvedev will move up to second place in the ATP rankings on March 15. He will be the first player to reach this ranking in addition to the Big-4 in the last 16 years. They will replace Rafael Nadal from second place. Whereas, Novak Djokovic of Serbia will continue on the first position.
From 2005 till now only the Big-4 could reach the top-2.
Since July 2005, only Djokovic, Nadal, Roger Federer and Andy Murray have qualified in the top-2. Medvedev would be the first player from outside the league to become number-2. Earlier, on July 25, 2005, Nadal replaced Layton Hewitt to become No. 2. Since then, the Big-4 was the only one to occupy this position.

Medvedev has not won any Grand Slam yet. He was runner up at the first Grand Slam Australian Open of the year last month. They were beaten 7-5 6–2 6–0 by Djokovic in successive sets in the final. He has reached the finals of a total of 16 tournaments in his career. Out of which he has won 9 tournaments. Whereas, he suffered defeat in 7. This includes 4 ATP Tour 250 titles, 1 ATP Tour 500 title and 3 ATP Masters 1000 titles.
Djokovic has won a total of 18 Grand Slam titles so far
At the same time, it was the 18th Grand Slam title of the Australian Open Djokovic. He has won 5 Wimbledon, 3 US Open and 1 French Open titles in addition to 9 Australian Open. They will also break Roger Federer’s record for the most week (310) number-1 on Monday. Djokovic has spent 310 weeks at number-1 so far. His 311st week will begin on March 8.
