Freedom fighter Ved Prakash Shastri of Meerut passed away. He was 100 years old. In 1942, he hoisted the tricolor at the historic Ghanta Ghar in Meerut against the British rule. On this he was arrested and sent to jail. When local people raised their voice in support of him, he was shifted from Meerut to Agra jail.
Born in village Daurli of Modipuram, Meerut, Ved Prakash Shastri was born in 1921. He devoted his whole life to the name of Gurukul Dorli. He died at a centenary today at a hospital in Pallavapuram due to prolonged illness. Vedpal Shastri was born in Gurukul Dorli, studied here and was a teacher of Sanskrit here. Later he became the principal here. He was the principal of Gurukul from 1972 to 1985.
Received the title of Shastri from Lahore University
Vedpal Shastri studied Shastri from Lahore University. He gave it to the Gurukul for about 53 years. On his death, Gurukul Principal Dr. Rajendra Kumar and son of freedom fighter of Palhera and social workers Sheelendra Chauhan and Sameer Chauhan and teacher Gurukul Krishna Kumar paid their tributes to him.
