Grape is applicable in NCR from September 15

Every year, Graded Response Action Plan i.e. GRAPE System is implemented for prevention of air pollution. This year, it was implemented in NCR from 15th September to prevent air pollution. Apart from the Pollution Control Board, about 23 departments including Municipal Corporation, Traffic Police, PWD, Irrigation Department, NHAI, Municipality, Health Department, RTO are working in Grape. Even after this there is no improvement.

Now let us tell you in detail about the 4 stages of GRAP…

  • If the air quality index is between 201 to 300, then the first phase of GRAP will be implemented. In this, instructions are issued for construction and demolition activities. Water is sprinkled on the roads. There will be a ban on burning garbage. Diesel generator will not be used for electricity.
  • If the Air Quality Index is between 301 to 400 then the second phase of GRAP will be implemented. There will be a ban on diesel generators. There will be no use of coal or tandoor in the hotel. Parking fees will be increased. The frequency of electric or CNG buses and metro services will be increased.
  • If the air quality index is between 401 to 450, the third phase will be implemented. There will be a ban on construction and demolition activities. Roads will be cleaned every day. There will be water sprinkling. Mining will also stop in Delhi-NCR.
  • If the air quality index exceeds 450, it will be recorded in the very poor category. The fourth phase of GRAP will be implemented in this. Entry of trucks in the city will be stopped. Only trucks carrying essential goods will be able to come. Industries and factories will be closed. There will be a ban on construction and demolition activities. Only 50% employees will be able to come to the offices. The rest will work from home.
