Gurfateh Singh Pirzada has been drawing significant attention with his role in the newly released web series Call Me Bae, where he stars alongside Ananya Panday. Premiering on Amazon Prime on September 6, 2024, the series has significantly boosted Gurfateh’s social media following. Although he now enjoys fame through his work in Hindi films and web series, his journey to success was marked by numerous struggles.
Gurfateh’s personal life
Gurfateh was born on October 29, 1996, in Chandigarh, India, in a Sikh family to an agriculturist and realtor father, Gurlal Pirzada and a housewife mother, Paramjit Kaur Pirzada. His sister Mehreen Pirzada is also an actress. She was seen in many Telegu, Kannada, Punjabi and Hindi films, including Krishna Gaadi Veera Prema, Gaadha, Phillauri, Jawaan and many others.
Talking about the actor, he did his schooling from Pathways World School with an International Baccalaureate Diploma. Gurfateh later went to Shobit University in Meerut. He then pursued a Diploma in Method Acting from The Jeff Goldberg Studio, Mumbai.
Gurfateh’s struggles to reach the top
Gurfateh has faced many tough situations in his life. In an old interview with the Hindustan Times, he talked about the odd jobs he did during his stay in Canada for around 4 to 5 months, along with his mother and sister. He mentioned that his family was not able to afford college.
“The minute I got out of school, life hit me. I was like, ‘Now what?’ I have to go to college. College how? Paise bharne parenge (I have to pay fees). My sister and mom were in Canada. They thought both would work to try to pay the college bill (of my sister). But of course, it’s not so easy. So, she didn’t end up joining the colleges,” said the actor.
He added, “I reached there thinking I would do the same thing. My mom and sister were working for 18 hours in odd jobs. They were living in the tiny basement of someone’s home. I was like, ‘Okay, this is life.’I got myself a job, mind you. This was working illegally; I had no work permit. If we were caught, we were gone. ”
The Guilty actor stated, “I did whatever I got, cleaning in a grocery shop or setting up the shelves, cutting meat in a meat shop, clearing garbage every night, making pizzas, and cleaning bathrooms.” Finally, when his visa was about to end, he returned to India.
Gurfateh played cricket at the district level
Gurfateh initially wanted to become a cricketer. Thus, he even played the spot at the district level. However, later, he got interested in becoming an actor and started his acting journey at 17 years of age.
He appeared in several advertisements. Talking about his popularity on Instagram, the actor is an avid user and keeps updating his fans with updates from his life. Now, he has a fanbase of 99.6K followers on Instagram, which has increased every hour since his latest web series was released.

Gurfateh’s professional front
Gurfateh began his acting career with the role of Aakash in the 2018 released film Friends in Law. Following this, he starred in other films, web series and music videos, including Hum Bhi Akele Tum Bhi Akele (2019), Class (2023), Mehendi (2021) and more. He co-starred Kiara Advani in the 2020 film Guilty and Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt in Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva (2022). Not only this, the actor even won the 2020 Filmfare OTT Awards for Best Supporting Actor: Web Original Film category for the Netflix thriller film Guilty. However, it is only after he appeared in Call Me Bae that people are going gaga over his dapper looks and acting skills.
