Messi wins Laureus Sportsman of the Year: Argentina best team, Messi first player to win both awards in one year

Messi received the Laureus Sports Man of the Year for the second time.

Argentina football team star and veteran football player Lionel Messi was awarded the Laureus Sports Man of the Year Award. The award was presented to him at a ceremony held in Paris on Monday. And the Argentine team was declared the Laureus World Team of the Year. With this, Messi has become the first player to have received both Sports Man of the Year and Team of the Year at the same time.

Messi and Argentina were given this honor for winning the FIFA World Cup held at the end of last year. In the final of this tournament held in Qatar, Messi scored two important goals for his team in the final. The winner was decided by penalties. Both the teams were tied 3-3 in the stipulated time.
